Anti Encroachment drive conducted by JMC

In continuation to series of anti encroachment drives conducted by Jammu Municipal Corporation , a drive was conducted in the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Nai Basti towards Satwari in order to ensure that the shopkeepers comply with the provisions of Jammu Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 and keep their saleable items with in the shutter line of their shops. These drives are being continuously conducted by JMC in compliance to the Hon’ble High Court’s directions in this regard. The drive was conducted on the instructions of Commissioner, JMC Sh. Arvind Kotwal (KAS) under the supervision of Secretary, JMC Mrs. Sunaina Sharma (KAS) and Assistant Commissioner (R), JMC Sh. Prem Singh (KAS) accompanied by Police & Traffic personnel from Gandhi Nagar, field staff of enforcement & revenue section of Jammu Municipal Corporation. During the drive, the special squad of Jammu Municipal Corporation seized one truck of material displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and footpaths which causes traffic congestions and free flow of pedestrians. The team removed unauthorized hoardings/flexes/flags from these areas as well. Jammu Municipal Corporation has being repeatedly issuing strict instructions to the shopkeepers regarding removal of encroachments by shopkeepers through public notices & announcements. Action shall be initiated against the defaulters/encroachers in terms of Section 232 of the Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 which may further lead towards the sealing of the shops as per law. Strict instructions were also issued to the street vendors/phari walas to ply their rehries only in the rehri zones established by Jammu Municipal Corporation.
