Hon’ble Minister for Housing & Urban Development review the functioning of JMC. JMC will achieve the target of Open Defecation Free by June, 2018.

Sh. Sat Paul Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Housing and Urban Development Department hold an introductory meeting with the Officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation today in the Conference Hall of JMC wherein Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation gave detail of working/functioning of different sections of Jammu Municipal Corporation. While reviewing, Hon’ble Minister took stock of projects being undertaken by JMC under AMRUT, SBM and Mega Project and stressed for their time bound completion. During the course of meeting, the Hon’ble Minister stressed for maintaining quality of works and also directed for preparation of drainage network plan so that problem of drainage can be resolved to the large extent. While reviewing project of Intelligent Traffic Light System, he stated that it is one of the vital project under AMRUT and emphasized for its time bound completion, as this project will help to decongest the city. He also impressed upon for early completion of Urban Transport Projects. The Hon’ble Minister focused on development of lanes/drains, parks, green spaces and added that 2 parks in each constituency shall be developed by JMC wherein open gym and play station for children shall also be installed. He instructed for development of Rehri Vending Zones so that vendors can be accommodated which will also help to decongest the city. He stressed for giving focus on Swacch Bharat Mission and added that this is the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and his dream is to make India Open Defecation Free before 2019. He directed for achieving the target of construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) by June, 2018. He took the issue of employees of JMC and stressed for preparing welfare plan for SKCs so that due care could be given to them. He also appreciated the initiatives taken by JMC for beautification of City and stressed for continuing such efforts, as this will help to face lifting of the city. He further impressed upon for wall painting, beautification of landscaping and rotaries etc. The Hon’ble Minister emphasized for improvement of sanitation scenario of the City and efforts must be put forth by concerned to achieve the desired in respect of sanitation. During the meeting Sh. Neeraj Gupta (KAS), Chief Accounts Officer, Ms. Sunaina Sharma (KAS), Secretary, Sh. Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (W), all Executive Engineers alongwith AEEs of JMC and UEED , Health Officer alongwith Sanitation Officers were also present.
