Jammu Municipal Corporation organized an interactive /awareness session on “Stress Management through Yoga”, “various Social Welfare Schemes” and “Drug Abuse in the Society” in the Council Hall of JMC. Hon’ble Mayor Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble
Dy. Mayor Mrs. Purnima Sharma, Hon’ble Councillors of JMC, IGP Jammu Sh. M.K. Sinha, SSP Jammu Sh. Tejinder Singh, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Pankaj Magotra Secretary, JMC, Smt. Sunaina Sharma, other senior Police Officers, Dr. T.R Raina, CDPO Jammu and Gandhi Nagar, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer graced the occasion which was also attended by other senior officers/officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
At the outset Sh.Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor JMC welcomed all and highlighted the importance of Yoga and meditation in everyone’s life and appealed all to adopt ‘Yoga’ as ‘way of life’.
Dr. T.R. Raina spoke at length on “Holistic Health, Science of Stress and its management through Yoga” and impressively demonstrated various ‘yog mudras’. All the councillors were urged upon by him to organize such programmes in their wards so that general public gets benefitted at large.
Further, an informative presentation on all Social Welfare/ ICDS schemes was made by Smt. Akanksha Kalsotra, CDPO Jammu, Gourav Gupta, CDPO Gandhi Nagar and Sh. Manjeet Singh, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, highlighting various social welfare and ICDS Schemes.
SSP Jammu Sh. Tejinder Singh comprehensively discussed the root cause of increasing drug abuse in Society which has spread its tentacles in every nook and corner and highlighted that drug abuse ,if not controlled timely can lead to disastrous consequences. He laid emphasis on the immense contribution, each and every councillor can make towards this growing menace through a new campaign “CADA” (Councillors Against Drug Abuse) to be soon launched by JKP, which was highly appreciated by one and all.
Deputy Mayor, Mrs. Purnima Sharma requested IGP Jammu to take measures to plug the bottlenecks in the department so that a visible impact of the ‘Anti Drug Campaign’ being carried out by JKP is witnessed by general public.The councilors also shared their views during the session and assured their full support and co-operation to all the departments for taking effective measures for the welfare of the general public.
At the end of the session, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation presented the vote of thanks to the Hon’ble Mayor, Hon’ble Dy. Mayor, Hon’ ble Councillors, IGP Jammu, SSP Jammu, Dr. T.R Raina, Officers from Social Welfare Department, Senior Officers from Police Department for active participation in the session.
