Jammu Municipal Corporation distribute dustbins to the shopkeepers to stop disposal of garbage on roads and to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the markets.

Under the guidance of Commissioner, JMC, Ms. Avny Lavasa (IAS), and with a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the markets and also to stop disposal of garbage on roads, Jammu Municipal Corporation distributed dustbins to the shopkeepers of ward no. 15, Indira Chowk, Jammu in the presence of Councillor Smt. Sandhya Gupta and under overall supervision of Secretary, JMC, Ms. Tinna Mahajan (KAS). Further, JMC appealed to the owners of shopkeepers & Hoteliers and other businessman establishment owners to handover the waste only to designated vehicles which have been kept exclusively for this purpose. The Secretary, JMC also spoke on the occasion and make people aware of the fine & penalties to be imposed on defauleters and violaters as per municipal bye laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. The amount of fines & penalties for different violators and defaulters has already been notified by JMC through electronic & print media. The market association appreciated the efforts of JMC for providing dustbins to shopkeepers of the area and also for maintaining sanitation as well as providing other civic amenities in their respective areas and assured that they shall provide full cooperation to Jammu Municipal Corporation for maintaining sanitation upto to the satisfactory level. The Commissioner appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation so that the aim of Swachh Bharat can be achieved and assured the citizens of the city that no stone shall remaine unturned in providing better sanitation facilities.
