Jammu Municipal Corporation in its endeavour to achieve Swachh Jammu Mission 2018 has started Solid & Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) project. After the completion of six days’ class room training by the volunteers, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Ms. Mandeep Kaur (IAS) today flagged off the ten days survey training in their respective wards. The training programme was conducted by Shri C. Srinivasan, Project consultant, Indian Green Service resource person for SLRM project from the Ministry of urban development, Govt. of India. The Survey team assisted by Sanitary Inspectors & Sanitary Supervisors will conduct a comprehensive survey & collect details of all households, commercial establishments etc. The purpose of this project is waste management as the problem of waste has reached a state of crisis.
Commissioner, JMC alongwith Joint Commissioner (Adm) R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Ms. Subah Mehta (KAS) (Nodal Officer), Health Officer Dr. Saleem Khan, Municipal Veterinary Officer Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Powergrid Corporation & other staff members of JMC also harvested two beds of compost prepared from dry leaves, twigs & garden waste. The beds were prepared in the month of April 2016 at Gandhi Nagar Floriculture Park as a part of scientific management of garden waste through composting as suggested in Solid & Liquid Resource Management. The Power Grid Corporation appreciated the work of JMC and purchased the first compost bed by paying Rs.30000/- towards the compost generated by the two beds there.
JMC appeals to the residents of Jammu city to cooperate in completion of Door to Door survey and provide complete information to the survey team & make this project a great success.
