The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation inspected the attendance of Safaikaramcharies(SKCs) in different wards and issued on spot directions to the Dr. Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer, JMC for putting every possible effort for providing proper sanitation to the citizens of the Jammu City, as JMC is mandated to provide basic amenities to the citizens of the city and further directed that there should be no lapse in respect of attendance of the SKCs/sanitation staff and added that JMC launches sanitation drives from time to time to achieve the aim of Swacch Bharat Mission and Clean Jammu and Green Jammu.
The Commissioner, JMC also directed the Transport Wing for thorough cleaning/desilting of the Nallahs to avoid over flooding of nallahs during rainy season and also to avoid loss of life and property due to over flooding.
Besides, also visited Ward No. 69 and 70 alongwith Chairman, Public Health & Sanitation Standing Committee (W.No. 70) and Councillor (W.No.69) took stock of sanitation, encroachments made over roads and Nallahs in the above said wards. She issued on spot directions to the Sr. Town Planner, JMC for measurements the spots where encroachments were made so that anti-encroachment drives can be started in the areas by the Enforcement Wing for removal of encroachments so that problems being faced by the residents are resolved.
She further appealed to the people to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. She also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. She stressed for putting every possible efforts in achieving goal of making city Jammu Clean & Green and aim of Swachh Bharat Mission and also appealed to the general public at large to comply the guidelines/SOPs being issued by the Govt.
