“World Environment Day celebration at Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu”

June 5, 2022 is the World Environment Day when people over come together to take action for the betterment of the environment. Jammu Municipal Corporation in this regard, organized a Tree plantation cum Plogging drive to celebrate World’s Environment Day at green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The theme for the World Environment day 2022 was “Only one Earth” The drive initiated with a Swachhata / Cleanliness pledge by Secretary JMC to spread the message of general hygiene practices & Cleanliness. Honorable Deputy Mayor JMC initiated the plantation at Green Belt Park while conveying a message to the youth & local citizens to protect the Mother earth by planting trees every week. Volunteers from Environmental Club - KC Public School came with the initiative to eliminate Single Use Plastic & other Plastic items. The students prepared Eco – Friendly banners made up of Cloth to spread message among masses to eliminate the usage of Plastic bags. Kuwarani representing ‘FICCI FLO’ also came forward with the initiative to plant trees & keeping our surroundings clean. Students & staff from Delhi Public School performed a Swachhata Song to aware citizens with the concept of Cleanliness. While, NSS Volunteers from GCOE, SPMR College of Commerce & school of Sciences also came forward to spread message of Cleanliness among masses, volunteers from DISHA & IPCA also conveyed the Cleanliness message. Various slogans were chanted during the event including “CLEAN JAMMU – GREEN JAMMU, SWACHH JAMMU – SWASTH JAMMU. 100 plants were planted during the event. Banners and Standees were also prepared regarding the same & refreshments were distributed to all. The Dignitaries present in the event included Honorable Deputy Mayor JMC - Adv. Purnima Sharma ji, Commissioner JMC – Rahul Yadav (IAS), Ward Corporator, Ward No. 20 Sh. Rahul Kumar ji, Secretary JMC – Atul Kumar, Kamaljeet Kaur & Rahul Thakur – representing “KC Public Environment Club”, Manager EPR IPCA – Ranveer Singh & dignitaries from JMC - IEC Wing including Rajat Gupta - Project Manager SBM, Dheeraj Singh Manhas - Project Manager - || / Communication Managar, Anuj Gandotra - Graphic Designer, Ankush Sharma - Zonal Area Manager, Bobel Chadgal - Zonal Area Manager & Sahil Kumar - Zonal Area Manager.
